FAQ’s
I’m sure you have plenty of questions while planning the decor for your special day. I put together a few of our most popular questions in hopes that you can find all the answers here and make your decision feel seamless when deciding if Unique Balloons is the right fit for you.
Balloon creations take time to design and complete so the sooner you book the better. 50% non-refundable retainer fee is required at the time of booking.
Unique Balloons is located in Orillia, Ontario and serves clients all over Simcoe/Muskoka.
Delivery fee is calculated based on the distance from location L3V7Y7 postal code to your event location at $0.50/km both ways
PARKING OR VENUE ACCESS
City Center or venues with limited/problem/paid parking, not on the ground floor or having to unload and re-park will incur a minimum $50 charge
Please supply information if your venue is not on the ground floor, if there are multiple rooms or if there is a code required to access the car park or facilities.
Delays in decorating time due to parking/access are not the responsibility of Unique Balloons.
I may refuse decorating if there is not sufficient parking available due to health & safety as I have heavy backdrops and have to make several trips to vehicle in order to unload items needed for your event. Due to this, I need to be able to park/unload as near to the venue entrance as possible and cannot cross roads or carry heavy equipment more than a couple of minutes walk from the entrance.
PERMIT PARKING, PCN OR OTHER CHARGES
If I incur parking charges or have to park illegally to unload or access the venue and receive a penalty notice or charge this will be the responsibility of the customer booking to pay and the costs will be added onto the booking. If the parking is permit parking only, you must ensure someone is on site to greet us upon arrival with a valid permit. Please make us aware of any parking limitations so I can plan in advance and ensure your decorating runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Installation and labor
Installation and labour fee is 40% of your balloon order subtotal (not on delivery fee). Includes consultations with the client , ordering balloons, preparing decor (double stuffing and blowing up balloons)
At Unique Balloons I only use materials from trusted vendors and of the highest quality latex/foil balloons.
Our rubber latex balloons are 100% biodegradable. I also encourage our clients to never release the balloons in the air and to properly dispose of them once they are done. I love the Earth and do not encourage littering of any kind.
I do all of prepping and inflating ahead of time to try to minimize the installation time on site of your event but I do request a minimum of 90 min to complete installation (depending on the size and scale of your design it could be a lot less or over 90 min, but I can discuss this during your consultation).
I understand life happens and things need to be rescheduled sometimes. I do accept events to be rescheduled at least three (3)weeks prior to your event date and I will gladly apply your paid retainer fee to a future booking. Any cancellation less than three (3) weeks from your event are not eligible to be rescheduled and our retainers will still remain non-refundable. (Unless discussed otherwise, depending on our schedule if I have availability, it might be possible to do so but I can not guarantee a date if you cancel less than three (3) weeks prior to your event)
I do not offer refunds for installations and deliveries. Your retainer fee which is half of your total balance is to secure the date, buy the requested balloon colors for your event. If you need to change the date of your event you may do so, but please be advised that the dates are first come, first serve. If you no longer need the balloons for your installation, I can create a balloon design for the total amount of your deposit.
I typically don’t take down any of balloon installs unless I’m offering a prop or rental item, then I will return back to the event location to collect the materials. If you would like the balloon installation removed at the end of your event , there is an additional $30 striking fee.
In short… no
When it comes to balloons I only use high quality latex from trusted suppliers to ensure they are not damaged or expired.
Also, many times, kits from Amazon or Etsy don’t have enough balloons to create the desired vision as a lot of images used for those kits are photoshopped or the image is work from an actual balloon artist’s website and being used as clickbait towards the customer. I like to ensure our clients have the BEST quality and our work is represented to our standards.
Yes and No .Balloons do not perform well under the heat. I suggest that you keep your balloons out of direct sunlight to be safe. But if you find a shaded area, for exemple around a tree, they should last for a longer time.
Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee your balloons will last at all once they have been delivered or picked up. Once delivered, Unique Balloons is not held responsible for any balloons that are popped, stolen, lost, poked or let go. If I pop your balloon, it will be replaced at no charge or a refund will be issued if I’m unable to get a replacement.
Let’s talk about balloons and life and temperature
*Balloons and Temperature: Please don’t leave balloons in a hot car – helium expands in the heat and this could cause your balloons to pop! I recommend that you use air conditioning in your vehicle when transporting balloons on a hot day. If your balloons get rained on and start to droop, don’t worry – they’ll float again when dry. When helium-filled balloons are taken into the cold, they will temporarily deflate and will re-inflate again when warm.
*Balloons – Child and Pet Precautions: Balloons are not a toy. Uninflated or burst balloons can present a choking hazard and should never be left with children under the age of eight without supervision. Store balloons away from pets to ensure that they cannot get themselves tangled with balloon ribbons or accidentally ingest popped balloons or their decorative contents such as confetti, feathers, or other materials. If a balloon pops, clear away any broken balloons and its decorative contents (if applicable) immediately.
*Balloons and the Environment: At the end of a balloon’s life, cut the end of the balloon with scissors to remove any air or balloon gas, then dispose of it in the bin. NEVER release balloons into the environment. ALL released balloons become litter. They can get caught up in trees or power lines. Remember – Don’t Let Go & Pin It and Bin It!
*Balloons and Allergies: Most balloons are made of natural rubber latex and may cause allergies. Please look out for symptoms in case of allergies and seek immediate help. *Inhalation of helium: Inhaling helium can be dangerous and it is not recommended. It can deprive your body of oxygen and can result in a fatality.
*Balloons and Ceilings: Lights, paint textures, irregular surfaces and even static can all pop balloons. If you are planning on placing your balloons on a ceiling, ensure that you test it first.
*Latex balloons and Oxidation: Clear balloons become cloudy quickly when exposed to heat and sunshine. Coloured balloons will take on a velvety, matte appearance.
*Balloons can Pop: While I use the highest quality balloons and take every precaution necessary with your balloons to ensure they last through your event, once the balloons leave our door or I have left the venue, they are out of our control.
